In 2004, the "Interdisciplinary Group for the Study of Interpersonal Relationship" was organized at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, in Vitória, Brazil.
In 2005, the group organized the IARR (International Association for Relationship Research) Mini-Conference, in Vitoria, with the participation of scholars from Brazil, United States of America, Colombia, Mexico, United Kingdom and Australia, and from six Brazilian states (Espírito Santo, Săo Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and Pernambuco). The financial support provided by CNPq (the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) enabled the publication of three books containing texts presented at the meeting. A fourth book has been published with the support of the Graduate Program in Psychology. The Espírito Santo State Assembly voted and approved a "vote of congratulations" to the conference planner.
In 2006, The "International Center for Interpersonal Relationship Research" (ICIRR) was organized to promote research and publications on interpersonal relationship. The scientific electronic journal Interpersona was organized as a free-access journal on personal relationships, with an international editorial board. Researchers from other countries start to cooperate for joint research advance and publication efforts.
In 2007, Interpersona s first issue is published with papers from Brazil, Jamaica, New Zealand, Turkey and the USA.
In 2008, scholars from 39 countries take part in Interpersona s Editorial Board.
